New Media and Travel: Two terms that have been moving closer to each other with
every passing year. While travel blogging, vlogging and live streaming might never
replace traditional travel writing it is becoming more of a surety that the two will cross over. But what is known about this industry called travel blogging? There are no set guidelines, few professional associations, yet a plethora of distribution outlets.
TravelBlogExchange.com started with the simple goal of bringing travel bloggers and content creators together. As online community moved offline at the first annual TBEX in Chicago, we, and many in the community, began to notice that what we had was an industry movement, as the industry was defining itself.
Collective voices gathered in one place is social marketing in action. Travel bloggers have the power to influence decisions, make recommendations and be on the forefront of experiential lifestyle products and services.
Now for the first time, we’re attempting to find out what the community really looks like to our colleagues in the fields of marketing, advertising and public relations. The information contained in this report will help marketing advertising and public relations professionals understand how to reach the new media travel community more effectively. In addition, it will signify the influencing power of a
unified driven community to itself.
Thank you for downloading this survey. We believe what you’ll find inside will be educational and shed some light on an emerging industry.
