I was just thinking a little bit about email from a traveler's perspective and what I appreciate about email campaigns when I am on the road. I came up with the following:
1) No two part downloads. If your signature has lots of links, pics or HTML formatting, it's tough to wait to download the whole message.
2) Easily retweetable links. I love to share good stuff, a button that allows me to do so from my smartphone only makes it more likely.
3) Headlines that tell me what I'm getting. Nothing misleading. It upsets me when I am in a hotspot for wifi or coverage and I click open your email only to find that it's not what was promised.
4) Enough lead in. Lots of email newsletters come in a "digest-y" format. I like this, but if there is only enough info to keep me wanting more, that's frustrating. I like the style of SmartBrief newsletters (about 3 sentences lead in)
5) Link to my profile. If you're a social community and you give me a call to action, I'd love it if you linked right to my profile. That way I don't have to sign in more than once.
What about you guys? What makes for easy email reading on the road (from companies, communities, etc...)
