Making Connections for Beginners!

As I was writing my first post for this site I came to the decision to start this discussion!

I hope more experienced bloggers can share their wisdom, and new bloggers can come to learn and share their own tips and pointers.

As a new blogger myself I am asking for advice on joining blog directories.

Are they good or bad? Has anyone joined any? What benefits do they bring? - Thanks!

I've joined a couple of blog directories (from your list Blog Digger, Blog Catalog, and Blog Top List). So far they've been helpful. You can quite a bit of traffic from there. It also helps with your blog's page rank. Of course, it's important to choose which blog directories to submit your blog. Submit to those that have a high page rank to get more results. Every backlink counts. Target high PR blog directories first as their links are worth more for your site. Low PR directories are ok, but not as valuable.

The benefit is that it will add to your own page rank
