Roadtrip to TBEX '09

On Twitter and here I've half jokingly throw out the idea of roadtripping to TBEX '09 from the general Seattle area as a means to save money. And then Kelly Goodman shot back an excellent idea!

What about throwing 3 or 4 travel bloggers in a car/truck (one would have to video as well) and live blog the whole way, each from his/her own perspective. Maybe pick up some others on the way. It'd be a good way to build up to the event and would be in the spirit of TBEX!

Loose estimate depending on which vehicle we drive would be something like 3,500 miles round trip which would be close to $140/per person for fuel. Maybe take 4 days, 3 if pushed, 5 if we have time. See some sites, have some fun, live life!

I'm not sure what my schedule is like for summer right now, but I'm 70% in. Who else would consider it?? I'd suggest getting a soap company to sponsor us.

If you're already in the States, just turn left at California, get on I-5 and meet us in Seattle!

We would love to host all you road-trippin' bloggers at Vail (or any one of our resorts - Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone) if you want to swing through Colorado on I-70! We'll roll out our Rocky Mountain welcome!

After looking at the time involved and route, we can't make it down to Colorado. :( This country is just a bit too big sometimes. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for the offer. And if you're ever in Seattle, you have at least three people who'd be glad to return the favor you offered!

It's time for a big old update!!

I'm happy to announce that which started off as a crazy idea is reality! Kelly, Pam and I are heading to TBEX on the great TBEX Road Trip! Ok, I'll stop using !!!!!s. But I'm really excited.

We have a blog set up and are filling it in as I type. Look for it to evolve over the next week. We have also started using the hashtag #tbexrt on Twitter. Our path is mapped on the site and basically takes us along I-90, more or less, towards Chicago. We are giving ourselves 8 days on the road, leaving July 16th, arriving July 23rd just in time for BlogHer and TBEX'09.(!)

We would LOVE to meet any and all of you along the way. Either drop us a line here, on Twitter or on the blog letting us know where and when. Our itinerary is posted on the site. Because of time constraints and distances, we won't be able to hit all the great spots along the way, but please oh please, if there is anything close to our route that we should NOT miss, please let us know.

Has planning begun for the TBEX roadtrip 2010? I'm sure Chris and I will be headed that direction...perhaps there should be a central meet up point as we all converge on New York City!
