Things To See, Do And Stay At Between Seattle And TBEX '09 (Chicago)

As of today, I'm planning on roadtripping from Seattle to TBEX '09 this summer. Any travel bloggers are more than welcome to come along on the fun and a thread has been started if you'd like to join in!

This thread is all about what to do, see and where to stay on the road from here to there (and back!).

I'd like to keep attractions and towns of interest to a distance of about one hour on either side of I-90, although that is up for negotiation. So let us know what shouldn't be missed and be sure to include a link if you can.

Also, if you'd like to offer up a spot for us to park and pitch a tent for the night (or even a comfy couch), please post up here.

South Dakota, right along I-90, of course you have to stop at Wall Drug and the Corn Palace.

Walnut Grove, MN, seems to be interesting for people of all ages; if there's not time for the museum, visit the Ingalls' dugout site, and down the road see the Sod House on the Prairie. Hermann the German's a big German-guy-with-a-sword on a pedestal in New Ulm. And of course the Jolly Green Giant stands high over Blue Earth, with the Spam Museum in Austin just a ways down the road.

House on the Rock is something to see in Wisconsin, but it takes most of a day to go through it.

Depending on how you go into Chicago, the Jelly Belly Factory Tour might be along the way. It's not a real factory, just a ride through the warehouse with movies showing the JB process, but you get free jelly beans at the end and can buy "belly flops" cheap.

Peter, while Wall Drug and the Corn Palace are things that we saw along the way, if I were going that way again, I'd skip it.

Check out the area between Bozeman, MT and Yellowstone. Another area over there that is amazing is Beartooth Pass. That whole area is a place that you don't mind spending some extra time driving around seeing the sights.

Another great place is the Badlands National Park.
