Where are you staying for TBEX '11?

Hey Guys,

Just thought I would start this discussion so we have a place to see who's staying where for TBEX in Vacouver. If you would like to share where you'll be staying, reply to this thread and put it out there for your blogger friends to see. Find the peeps you know will be up for after hours, or simply the ones you can share a cab with.

If you have some great tips or deals for a Vancouver stay, please share those as well.

Courtney: I found a studio suite for a great price in a luxury condo within walking distance of the Convention Centre at www.airbnb.com.

I am hoping to get away to attend the BC Travel Writers Conference which I believe you are a presenter. I have just bought a ticket to TBEX11. I live on Vancouver Island (near Ladysmith) so it would be great to meet you in Vancouver.

Nancy, if you attended the BCTA gala yesterday you will have noticed I was absent. Bad bout with hypertension but had my paper read. Love your Italian blog. Love Italy, have a story about Maratea, Venetia, and Capri on my blog www.footloosebyseaandshore.blogspot.com Will watch for you at TBEX11 in two weeks. I did not make it to the BCTA gala yesterday (I was most interested your presentation anyway). I am looking forward to TBEX'11. Are you going on Friday? I have searched for accommodation yet so not sure what I will find. My husband will be going to Vancouver but not to the conference. I look forward to meeting you.

Nancy, June 10th is Canucks game if they make it to a 5th so tough nite for accommodation! My husband is going as well but not to the conference. We've got a suite in a condo not too far from the Conference Centre and I'm going June 9th as I am booked on the native canoe trip Friday a.m. We are booked with www.airbnb.com so check it out. Hotel rates are outrageous!

Nancy, can't make it on the weekend, but interestingly I have sold my ticket to Bianca Gignac and she lives in Nanaimo! So look her up at the conference. She also has an Italian website: Italian Fix.com

Looks like I'm staying at the Same Sun Backpackers hostel on Granville, a decision I fear I will regret, but they are offering a 50% off discount for TBEXers so the price is good for me. I'm also waiting to see if anything else opens up. I'm on a tight budget.

At least two people in the TBEX '11 Attendees group mentioned wanting to possibly get a roomie. The discussion is here. Not sure if they already found accommodations, but that could be an option for you if you still feel like you might regret the hostel option...

Thanks Meliha! You really can't beat $64 CDN for four nights in a hostel (that's with the 50% discount at SameSun). I tend to shy away from the "party" hostels, which is why I usually stay at the HI-Jericho Beach Hostel when I come to Vancouver. Unfortunately, they were booked. I'm going to keep checking though. Something might open up!

I'm hoping maybe some other female bloggers will book for SameSun too and maybe we'll all be in the same bunk room! :) Either way, if people want to get together for drinks in the Beaver Lounge (the name alone KILLS me!), I will be staying there!
