Travel Blog Exchange

I know that I have never personally had a travel blog but I did have quite a few journals back in the day. I think the thing that would inspire me to start a travel blog would be the ability to share unique finds with others. What made you start yours?

When planning my around the world trip, I realised early on that people are more likely to read and be interested in short stories about my travels, especially when they can read them when they like, rather than being bored to tears by me going on and on when I finally see them again. The same holds true for photos. I only ever look through a small portion of my friends photos, but I am more inclined to look at them when they are uploaded periodically and in small batches. I therefore started Dan's Adventure as a means to share my plans and experiences with my friends and family as I travel. Since starting it I have been amazed by the very active travel blogger community and have enjoyed being a part of it, exchanging ideas, giving tips and getting lots of advice.
Most difficult part of Blogging is to find the right topic. There is so much being written on each and every subject that you want to quit before you can even start.I Blog to promote my guesthouse in Jaipur. My blog is about the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan,India.

Just to share my thoughts and observations about cultures and life that I have gleaned from my travels with a wider audience beyond the immediate people I know.
I have so much to say about this, I'll have to start a blog topic on it! Be right back with a link! ha ha! Great to be here with so many travelers. I'm in heaven!
I started Part Time Vagabond because I love to travel, I love road tripping, I love food, and I love the outdoors, but I have so little money to actually keep going. I figured the blog would be a good way for me to hone my writing and video production skills, meet new people, and build my portfolio of writing (I also write for Student Filmmakers Magazine) so I can earn a few bucks to travel.

I'm 30 years old, and in the middle of a career shift (not a change, just a shift), and I'm trying to figure out where I'm going and what I want to do with my life, my career, everything. The blog is a sort of combination of wishlist, journal, networking tool, and to do list.
I started my blog Pommie Travels because I love writing primarily- I'm a journalist and a writer and I found that the best thing to write about since I do so much of it, is travel. I figured if I couldn't convince people to publish my travel writing, I would publish it myself. So it became a way to showcase what I could do. But I also met so many people who were first time travellers and had so many questions about travelling, and I wanted to help people out and give useful information. Blogging is a great way to have a visual record of your travels.
I spent about 2 years in my 20s trying to write a great novel. It was going to be my opus! The "Great Canadian Novel," about life as a 20-something software engineer in a world overrun with baby-boomers. Everything I produced sucked. There was a few good bits here and there, but mostly it was populated with flat, two-dimensional characters in dull situations. So I gave up on writing my novel, and stopped writing (other than business requirements documentation for work).

When I started travelling, I started to write down some stuff and sending via email to friends and family. It made me very happy, and I found that really enjoyed writing. I found that writing stuff - any stuff really - kept me more emotionally grounded and happy. I was a better person when I was writing than when I wasn't.

So instead of the great Canadian software-engineer-based novel (which, frankly, Douglas Coupland had beaten me to writing - even back in my 20s when I was writing it originally), I decided to write stupid and funny little quips from my travels and publish them to the world. I'm not sure that my blog constitutes great literature, but at least I think it entertains a few and keeps the frustrated writer in my satisfied.
As I'm sure most people here would agree - I love travel, it's my passion. I love photography as well. But I have a full time job, I'm a mother and a wife. That is my "real world" life. I needed a place to share my travel and photography when I wasn't traveling. Since I can't yet travel for a living and not everyone I meet wants to hear about the trip I'm planning or the trip I just went on, a friend suggested I start a blog to share all my adventures, and the adventures I want to take. My blog was born. It's still new and I hope I can develop a style and some loyal followers! I really love blogging, which I am truly surprised at because I never really liked writing - guess I never found something I was passionate about writing about!

Well.. the main reason I wrote my travel blog is log in my memories before the natural course of aging erases them and also to be able share my experiences with other people and inspire them to travel as well. :D
