How interested would you be in a blog that focuses entirely on independent travelers in their 40, 50 & 60s? I'm pitching such a blog for an established independent travel website that mostly focuses on youths. I think there's a need for more information geared to people not interested in partying, bungy jumping and other stuff youths seem to never tire of. Gabriele, it has been cold and we're not crazy about it but the snow has been pretty. In a couple of weeks we leave for Thailand -- beach vacation! Then we move onto China for the year. Have a terrific 2010!

Carcassone reminds me Avignon a little, which also has a city wall. Thanks for your detailed report and the nice photos. However, I don't envy you the cold. Take care and have a lovely Christmas and a good new year.

We're in week two of our travels through Europe as we move our home (which consists of two backpacks and two daypacks) from Costa Rica to China. We'll be in Europe until late January or when our money runs out -- whichever comes first. If we run out of money, we'll go rest in southern India until we need to go to China. Since leaving San Jose, Costa Rica two weeks ago we've: relaxed for five days at a resort on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica to celebrate my 50th birthday; spent four days on buses from northern Costa Rica to central Mexico; visited with friends for four days in Guanajuato, Mexico; and are now in Los Angeles for 10 days taking care of business and visiting friends and family.

Next, we fly to NYC and Lisboa Portugal. We still plan to see (at least) Portugal, Spain, Morocco, France and Italy. If our money runs out, we'll fly to a cheaper country -- if we're able to keep traveling on the cheap, we'll throw in Greece and Turkey. We expect to land in China at the start of February for a one year stay -- or more!
