I am still following your big adventure all the way to China. This is great stuff, because it is real.

Excellent way to get guest bloggers Lois. If I had a home to exchange, I'd be joing your group too. We sold our house in Los Angeles 3.5 years ago to finance our round the world trip. Our vagabonding is now financed by my husband's jobs teaching English and will one day, I hope, be financed by my books!

Glad to see people are coming together through our Baby Boomer group!

I agree - great site with lots of useful travel information, Renee. I am now following you on twitter and hope we can share some content/links as I'm sure our home exchange members would be interested in your site. Do you want to write a guest post? This invitation goes to all you baby boomers - I am always looking for good guest posts for my blog, http://homeexchangetravel.blogs.com - just have to relate it in some way to home exchange so that it's relevant to our readers.

Look forward to hearing from some of you.

Cheers from rainy London!

Thank you for the warm welcome, Doris! I am impressed with your website as well. I really admire the fact that you live such an adventurous lifestyle as an expat. But you are right I am lucky to be doing the next best thing..traveling whenever I can and sharing my experiences with others. ;-D

Hi Renee, Welcome to the group. You have a beautiful website that I've bookmarked for future reference. The link you provide below didn't work (maybe because of the comma?), so I just cut and pasted the name into my web browser.

Well, you may still have 15 years til you can retire, but it sounds like you are doing what you love: writing and traveling! I was immensely fortunate to be able to retire from my corporate job at 46 to start my career as a writer & traveler and since I couldn't afford to do that in the USA or Canada, I've decided to become an expat as well.

Again, welcome and we look forward to your participation in the discussions.

Wow! Reading the comments here has turned me a little green with envy....lol. I have another 15 years before I can leave my job, but in the meantime, I do plan to travel whenever possible. Hi everyone! My name is Renee, I live in Atlanta and I'm new to the group. I look forward to sharing and learning as much as I can about travel in general and meeting new friends is definitely my primary goal. Oh, my website is www.aviewtoathrill.net, still tweaking it, if you have a moment to stop by and let me know what you think about it, I would be grateful.

Hi Judy, welcome to the group!

My husband and I did what you plan to do and never regretted it. Sold our house, everything we owned, quit our jobs and started traveling around the world. 3.5 years later, we've still travelin although now it is more like vagabonding as we stop and stay place longer than during the first 26 months when we just kept going all of the time. Great to have you join us.

I, like many people, have become resigned to the new way of traveling:more expensive, less comfort. And I think of the most important thing as you grow older is a need for comfort. That's part of the reason that, as I am about to turn 50 and my husband 55, we are doing so much travel now as we know it won't get any cheaper or more comfortable. I agree that our priorities change as well as we age. That why people should try to travel at every age so that they can experience it in many different ways. Thanks for your comments, once again Gabriele.

What I hate these days is long distance travel with much transit and endless waiting hours before the next flight is due. I wouldn't mind, if I had company. No frill flights are also not my ideal manner of traveling. The sheer idea of perhaps having to measure my hand luggage looks like a nightmare. The faint possibility to make a measuring mistake and having to unpack at the airport borders torture.. Flights where you pay a fortune for a miserable dry cheese roll, because you forgot your lunch pack are aggravating. Travel was always something of luxury in my past and that's the way I like it. The only difference is that there is nobody anymore to help financially. That's how our priorities change and ruin some of the adventure we used to love. Comfort has become important, since I have passed the 61 year mark. It may be hard to believe that the difference of one single year of age can affect our priorities with travel.
