Hello there,

I'd like to ask you for some help please, we have an anniversary contest that is currently going on to celebrate Unearthing Asia's 1st Year Anniversary. You may have read about that too in the magazine, and we have it up now at http://unearthingasia.com/contest2010/

Would be great if you can help us promote the contest, through your various social media means and also your several travel sites? I think this would be something that would be of interest to your readers too. Perhaps you may even be interested in sponsoring a prize, such as giving photography print, a personal tour, etc and the likes, or perhaps we can explore other ways of working together for this contest? Let me know, I look forward to hearing back from you.

Cheers,

Nikolas Tjhin

We'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on our latest post: The Other Way to Monetize Your Travel Blog

Hi Ayngelina,

For media kits check out YTravelBlog as they have nice advertise with us page, and then on more of the kit level, check out the PlanetD who have put together a very nice kit (like they do with everything :)

On a site note, Jane, I love the concept of the site. I'm starting something similar as well called Travel Blog Challenge. Its a community site centered around a 1000-1000 Challenge (1000 visits day and $1000/month). It aims to answer the question can we make sustainable online income from travel blogging and if so how. Forums, articles from the community, case studies, and hopefully banding together to help each other increase readership and money.

Cheers,
Todd

Offhand, I'd guess that makemoneyasyoutravel.com would work better with a hierarchical (topic/subtopic) structure than as a LIFO ("last in, first out" or reverse chronological order) blog.

I've created a new site aimed at helping people make money as they travel, rather than pre-departure called www.makemoneyasyoutravel.com. There's a big emphasis on making money from blogs, and the location independent lifestyle, but the site will be covering all aspects of making money as you travel such as working holiday visa', sponsorship, etc.

What do you think?

Like Durant, at My Itchy Travel Feet, we have an About page (actually a couple - one for the blog and one for me). This is our main About page:

http://myitchytravelfeet.com/about/

We also have a pages for Advertisers (that's where you find updated blog statistics), a PR page and Media page. When you total up the pages, there's our media kit.

" Do any of you have media kits? I'd like to put one together but I have no idea where to start. "

We don't have a media kit, but we have an "About Us" page with basic info about the site and links to an "Audience" page (traffic and demographics), a page of press quotes, etc.:

http://europeforvisitors.com/europe/articles/info/about_us.htm

On a Web site, this probably makes more sense than a "media kit" unless you've got media beating down your door for traditional press kits.

I hope people are still reading this group and not abandoning it because of the spammers as I have a question I really need help with.

I was thinking the same thing as Durant... More often than not comments are spam. Doesn't TBEX have the ability to delete and block the spammers? or is that part of the downfall of using a ning site?
