I too would be interested depending on the dates. I'm a travel agent, blogger and I do a lot of public speaking events.

Comment by Myscha L. Theriault on November 10, 2011 at 6:40am Hi Ben, I would be interested in possibly speaking at the library depending on what the parameters are. Also, I have someone who's interested in hosting our group to an overnight hotel event with activities. I'll email you with some info.
The Orlando Public Library is looking for speakers to give tips on traveling with kids. Anyone interested, let me know.
Greetings Everyone. Here's a few updates (partly) based on the conversation below.
I've created a facebook group for us. The benefits of using this group are:
1. More of us are on Facebook than this site.
2. Everytime we post, we don't receive emails
Here's the link:

As to our next event. I'm open to suggestions and know that if you want to plan something, go for it! I'll assist as you need.
Bess is hosting a tweet-up in November as a follow-up to the Central Florida Bloggers Conference, which would be a fine November event.
Comment by Rori Travels Florida on November 1, 2011 at 2:03pm Hey Brian and everyone -
Not to speak for our leader, Ben, but we're actually pretty darn active. While we may skip months between meet ups - and I'm guessing Nov & Dec will not see any, we've actually had a number of them over the months. We took midsummer off as everyone was too busy and the holidays are likely going to be the same, but I'm guessing by Jan we'll be back to once a month or every other month.
It has mostly been a "we talk to each other" kind of thing and know when months are better than others. Ben has put most together, but I jumped in with a month, Mike & Catrell did the same with KSC.
Which brings me to: if anyone has an idea for a place to go, you should let Ben know and work with him on how to proceed. Its not fair for him to have to plan every event, so by coming up with an idea, then talking to Ben about how to proceed, you can help us continue to find some really cool places but not burden one person.
We've done the Orlando Science Center, Mount Dora, and KSC, among others, so if you have a location, let Ben know and he'll help you approach them, approach the group and so on.
Remember, for the most part it is anywhere between Tampa and Cocoa Beach (a little north or south might be ok depending on where). Basically we're looking for a location that will have us out at no expense, we'd have some time to be as a group to socialize, they can tell us about the location and give us time to explore. Having something to eat/drink helps and can be negotiated, but low to no cost is of course what we are looking for. The idea is that for whatever expense they are incurring, they are hosting usually around 12 - 18 bloggers with a variety of audiences, active social media, and perhaps even freelance opportunities. Coverage may come immediate (social media or a blog post) or over time. I for one like to get to that article (s) a little later so as not to flood the air waves all at once. In some cases, Ben & I also do coverage for Florida Travel Cocktail podcast.
In the case of a coastal event, as Mike did, arrangements may be made as well with a local hotel, inn, or B&B for discounted rates. Again, that location can look forward to coverage by at least some of the attendees. Not everyone stays, but it's nice to have one traveling to one coast or the other for those coming from the opposite side.
Don't forget to include your articles on here and members can help promote those. I personally do not do that because Ben had included mine as one of the constant links at the front of the Central Florida Chapter page. I didn't want to over do it by adding it here as well. But I encourage you all to do so. And keep an eye out for those you're interested in and help promote for your fellow bloggers.
We are not always on here talking or sharing, but this is a great hub for things that come up and I encourage everyone to use it as such.
And I thank Ben for his continued efforts to lead this wild & wacky troop!
See you all at the next event!
