How many flashpackers out there travel with DSLRs? I'm looking to get my first one very soon (as a graduation present actually, woo!) and need some help picking out which ones are high quality yet easy to travel with!

I've always had DSLR's through out my life and to be honest I have decided not to bring one this time around. I traveled through Europe back in 2008 with a Point and Shoot and it did everything that I needed it to do without being "flashy" and daunting to carry around. I agree, the quality of a DSLR far outweighs P&S cameras, but unless you plan on blowing up your photos (poster prints) when you get home, I would go with a P&S. Plus if you get yourself a nice P&S that does HD video you'll be in business. If you lose the P&S or it gets stolen, you're out >$400. If you lose the DSLR on the other hand, it just might ruin your trip! Just my opinion! Believe me, I understand where you're coming from when you say you want to get a DSLR. They are so sweet!
