Travel Blog Exchange

My travel startup is paying people up to $100 to write travel itineraries, know anyone interested?

The program is pretty simple: you write an itinerary and once we approve it, we pay you up to $100 in a revenue advance. In addition to the revenue advance, you’ll also earn 75% from the sale of each itinerary.

What is Unanchor.com?

Unanchor.com is a travel startup company trying to cut down the amount of time it takes to research what to do and how to get around for your next trip. We’ve created a marketplace of self-guided tour itineraries.

Self-guided tour itineraries provide a schedule of prioritized sites, detailed maps & directions, and insider local information. It’s best to look at an example. We’ve created a 1-day San Francisco example itinerary.

Interesting concept, Jason. Good luck with this venture. I have passed this on to other travel writers I know.

However, as a traveler, why buy your product when I can get more complete info from an iPhone app that probably costs less than half the price, or a full-blown Kindle version of a mainstream publisher's guidebook (e.g., Frommers SF) that I can read on any platform, for about the amount.

Hi Dick,

Thanks very much! I really appreciate you passing it along.

Great questions as well. In terms of price, from my research I found that we were generally comparable to iPhone apps out there and less than the mainstream publisher guidebooks (and that's what we are shooting for).

What frustrated me about other guidebooks and apps was the fact that they would simply list all of the sights in a city to see with one or two sentence descriptions for each and then based on that information you were expected to plan your vacation. In addition, I've always found that the directions given are poor and usually incomplete. With self-guided itineraries, these problems are solved. A local expert has seen all of the sights and tells you what to see based on how much time you have with really specific directions on getting around. Check out our SF itinerary -- http://bit.ly/SFItin.

Let me know what you think -- I always appreciate feedback from fellow travelers.

Thanks,

Jason

Jason, what a wonderful idea.  Is this only in your area of California or can it be of any area?  I am definitely interested in doing this.

Thanks,

Senaf

Jason, I checked out your site.  I am definitely interested.  I submitted an itinerary idea for my hometown.  Is it possible to submit more than one idea for an itinerary?  I have several ideas I'd like to submit.

Hi Heather,

Yeah, you can definitely apply multiple times and then we can work together to figure out what to start with.

Thanks!
Jason

I am definitely going to consider this; it sounds like a great way to inform others about my fav spots and earn some money while doing this :)

Hi Jason,

I have a query. Are the itineraries to be of a specific country or region? Since I reside in India, I could provide several itineraries of cities across my country. Please let me know if that is valid.

Thank you.
