HI there, Kids Fly Happy! Your blog is such a good idea - I'm sure it'll fill a much needed niche. In terms of marketing, well, there's so much out htere in terms of (free) online social networking. Set up a Facebook page, be active and friend fellow travel fans on twitter...and of course, TBEX is a pretty sweet place to be.
By the way, I see you're in La Jolla, California. It's beautiful there, I love it. Here's a (short) video post I made a while back about La Jolla's sea lion population on the beach there.

Hi all, I noticed there's a new security upgrade available for WordPress: 2.8.6. The security holes seem to effect multi-author/group blogs, so consider upgrading ASAP.

I recommend you do a full database backup (I use wp-backup plugin) and, if you have irreplacable files in your uploads or wp-content directory you back that up before any upgrade.

Hi all! Great to find this group here, looking forward to logistical and ethical discussions. Last week I relaunched my domain http://www.Expatharem.com as a global niche for culture & identity adventurers, global citizens, travelers & Turkophiles. First time opening it up to others. Plan to publish guest bloggers. The guidelines are evolving here: http://www.expatharem.com/become-a-guest-poster/
Any comments or suggestions very welcome -- especially from people who have pioneered the group blog.

I was really interested in other people's approach; do you give authors direct publishing rights? or are things put through a process before publishing?
Craig Martin Comment by Craig Martin on October 19, 2009 at 11:20pm
Thanks Jen_M! I'm pretty happy with our approach, but it's time intensive! That said, we try to fact-check everything we publish, which can be difficult on the road. Everything we do has been read by at least two, but normally three people by the time it hits the screen.

It's never too soon to start networking and building your relationships with other travel bloggers, editors, etc., Shanna. Attending conferences is one way to do that. That said, some conferences are better than others. I'll have to let…

I have a 2 month old travel blog that I have been working very hard to establish.  What I am trying to figure out is how soon is too soon to start attending travel events and conferences? Will it be a boost to my blog at this point, or will it be a relative waste of time?  Is it too soon to start networking and making contacts?  What do you think?Have any of you attended any conferences or events, and what was your experience? Thanks so much for your input,Shanna…See More
