Digg--which MatadorNetwork has been keeping an eye on and using for a long time--is not nearly as effective as StumbleUpon and other sites. For one thing, Digg works best when you've developed a relationship with a 'power user' who likes your content and submits it. Random Digg submissions will die quickly; Digg has a shelf life that SU doesn't, which makes it a totally different beast from SU. I've also noticed that Digg tends to bring out the haters... SU is a much more friendly atmosphere; Digg, on the other hand, tends to attract users/readers/commenters who don't even really read what's been written and leave dumb, hostile comments, which can actually undermine your promo intentions.

Thanks for the details on DIGG Alex! Especially the information on building your reputation within DIGG.

I'm just learning the ropes - and while I have had a few surges of traffic from DIGG and StumbleUpon, I haven't had anything that will take my server down - yet.
