Sometimes study abroad was the jumpstart to amazing careers, adventures, romances, and more! On my blog, http://www.insidestudyabroad.com, I discuss all the good, bad, ugly, and interesting sides of the study abroad experience. I'm starting a "where are they now" series and would love to do a Skype video interview with a few travel bloggers who studied abroad to mix things up a bit. Let me know if you're interested in discussing your personal study abroad story - of course I'll tell everyone about your blog too. :) Email me at brooke@insidestudyabroad.com.

Cheers, Brooke

My study abroad experience happened when I went back to school to finish my bachelor's. I was 29 and the oldest student in the pack. It was an arts and culture program in Ghana through the School for International Training. We traveled all over the country staying with families and at guesthouses Challenging at times, but life-changing.

I studied abroad for a semester. My university said my grades weren't good enough to join their programs, so I joined a program through another college and the best semester of my college life.

I am also a college student and am currently studying at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. I've only been here for a little under 2 months, but I can already tell that this will be a life-changing experience. Turkey really is a fascinating and wonderful place!

I am actually studying abroad next semester. I am a student at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign, and I'll be leaving for four months to study in Verona, Italy. I am really excited!

I am from Luxembourg, but studied at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and did an exchange semester at Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain, with the Erasmus program. I had a great time there, it helped improve my Spanish and Madrid still is one of my favorite cities.

Great idea for a group. Hope everyone is still plugged into it. I agree with you that not enough students get to study abroad. It is a memorable experience and changes many people's lives. I studied abroad in Florence during my junior year at Stanford before the EU was realized. It's great to still have Lira in my drawer. Ilived with a family that spoke no English - very fun learning experience.

I also did an international mediation and conflict resolution summer program in the Hague after graduation, the first year of the program's inception. It was nice to be the guinea pigs. We had a lot of freedom.

I took a class on the EU as a graduate student at American University in Washington, DC. It was a summer course and we did the course work in Paris, Luxembourg, Brussels, The Hague, and Amsterdam.

I moved to Brussels as a direct result of that course and lived there 4 years. Years 3 and 4 I took another mater's degree at Boston University's Brussels campus.

I"m one of the many who did the typical Junior Year Abroad in Paris. (1992) Yale didn't have a France program, so I went with NYU in France. I did most of my studies at Paris III - Censier, studying French Literature and Theatre.
