New Post: Musicians Below New York

One of the many things I love about New York City is the range of amazing musicians and singers who eke out a living performing across the city’s subway network. Actually, ‘eke out’ may be the wrong expression. Judging by the amount of money some of these musicians are able to earn in tips (based on my observations), they may in fact be making quite a good living.

Of course, this only applies to the best of the performers, but then to survive as a performer on New York’s subway stations you have to be more than good, you have to be very good. So today, I thought I’d feature some short films that focus on a few of these subway singers.

new Post: Make Your Dream a Reality In my first post for 2012, I mentioned that many people have found ways to indulge their love of travel, often for extended periods of time, and that if you are prepared to make the commitment and sacrifice, you too can travel sooner rather than later. What I didn't include in that post, however, were links to some of the many blogs and websites from these travellers. So today, I have decided to address that omission.

All the travellers highlighted have embarked on amazing personal journey's that often defy logic, logistics, money, and maybe even common sense.

Did you know there is a phrase called, "Losing the plot," to describe long-term travelers who have their minds drift into almost crazy. This person often brings up strange topic in the middle of a conversation. That is how you know the person has lost the plot. For example, we are having a conversation about in Guatemala on --- where to do next? Suddenly, another traveler starts to talk about wanting to go Anartica, now conversation do wander, and I often think normal people have lost the plot, but when the wander, I then wonder too much. Well, the "Lost the Plot person." continually does this, they talk about things that are not even the present topic.

Why is this a problem for a long-term traveler. Well, some of us, me in included have traveled perpetually for years. Me, 13 years, 90 countries.

It is a problem of "Filters," when at home, we have friends who filter out the crazyh comment. "Andy, that is crazy." and we slow down. But because we in a travelers huddle, discussing in 2-3 languages we often allow the crazy person to continue, and we just leave.

Fun stuff, I can never remember the difference between parables, metphors, allegory etc.

We at HoboTraveler.com just started a page of Travel Dictionary terms, where people can write on terms such as losing the plot, get back links, and promote their site for Free.  http://www.mytraveldictionary.com/

Hi all, I'm trying to figure out travel insurance options for my upcoming rtw trip. I put up an extensive post regarding what I know to date, but any input and advice regarding how you go about selecting travel insurance, particularly for long-term travel, would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am writing a book explaining travelers who have lived in many cities on the planet for over one month. It is a celebration of slow travelers, if you have lived in many cities, or know of another person who lived in many cities, please send me a list of cities: http://www.hobotraveler.com/helpcenter/contact/contact.php

Here is a list of cities from other people:

It is not important if you live traveling, rather that you regualarly stay longer than one month in places you go. Thanks Andy Graham presently on Lago Atitlan, Guatemala.
