Is there a "right time" to start monetizing your blog?

Which way to go to make money from your blog is a tough one. I think in the long run it is important to mix it up with different techniques.

Personally i think its a good idea to have one or two company affiliate ads on your site with the option of adding direct advertisers to that space. Mainly though i like to advertise e-books from other travel writers and bloggers within their affiliate programs. The percentage is always high, mine are all 50% of sale which is a nice earner and appeal more to people as they are 'how to guides', full of information on how to start a travel blog, teach in Thailand etc.

Then in diffirent areas of the site i will add a product from Amazon, a latest travel book, camera or something like that. Amazon is hugely popular and used an awful lot. They may not buy that exact product but once they have clicked on it, whatever they buy over the next month from amazon, a percentage will go to you.

So try and mix it up:

Direct Adverts
Affiliate programs
Adsense
e-books
A few text links

Correction: The Amazon affiliate cookie lasts 24 hours and not a month that i just stated in my message. Sorry i was thinking of another program. A month, i wish :)

Hi. Bumped with this thread and tried to check yeildbuild but I cannot push through or is there a country access restrictions applied?
