Wine oh wine, could you imagine life without this god-sent? I admit I'm far from being a wine connoisseur, but who needs to know how to let wine 'breathe' to enjoy a glass or two? Tell us what you think is the best wine in the world!

My picks would have to be...
The Italian Lambrusco
The Spanish Rioja
Moscatel from Chile

Tempranillo! It tastes like the wine version of the chocolatiest, butteriest pain au chocolat.
I was given a gift of a bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild a couple of years ago, and it is just so superior it boggles the mind. However, it's also REALLY expensive! I won't be sipping any more unless it's another gift!

For more affordable wine, the California Bordeaux put out by the Niebaum-Coppola winery is really terrific (in my opinion). The Rubicon estates (same winery) also puts out a very light bubbly named for Francis Ford Coppola's daughter, Zoe, that was perfect with strawberries on a hot summer day. I wish I could remember the name of it!
His daughter is Sofia. The Sofia Blanc de Blanc in the little can?

Find it at your local store at www.vinquire.com
I like Cote-du-Rhones, any of them from the South of France. Malbecs from Argentina. And my favorite Champagne is from a small winery in Vertus called Bourgeois-Boulonnais. My everyday wine is usually a Merlot or something medium to dark red from California. I'm not label loyal even though I did go through a phase of loving Rodney Strong Merlot. I don't know if I am a wine-lover or just a wino.
As much as I appreciate the Old, I've gotta stand up for the new world!

New Zealand's been doing great Sauv Blanc since the early '80s and Pinot Noir from Gibbston Valley is coming into it's own now - try the Peregrin (with a fitting name for us all too).

We're in Aussie and the moment - Swan Valley and Margaret River on our doorstep - and really finding some good stuff. Traditional "Aussie" wines are fruit-forward Shiraz and Chardonnay but my favourite finds so far are the Verdelhos in the Swan...pleasantly surprising to see them down here and some really nice expressions. I can now attest: Aussie wine is more than just woodchipped Wolf Blass and Yellowtail.

South Africa's got an amazing grape called Pinotage -- it's well worth finding if you can. Lovely rich flavours (can have a lovely chocolate texture Christine :) ).

I know they exist, but I have never had a good bottle of American wine. White SZin and other over-sweet wines from Gallo et al. Shipping address available on request :P
I've had some really good wines from Australia. When I think of wines from Aus I think of grassy flavor. Different but good.
The Pinotage from South Africa is good - again it's different. The one I've been able to get is smokey.

If you've only had WhiteZin or Gallo wines, you haven't had real wine from the States. We do have excellent wines here, and finding them is half the fun. The better bottles come from winemakers you've never heard of.
I wish they'd export them! The bottle shops in Perth are VERY biased towards Margaret River/Swan Valley. It can be hard to find a good selection of even big-name European wines here. Not that I'm complaining with the local fare, mind you!
Everything in WA is VERY biased towards things in the west. PArt of the charm of the place?!?
Primitivo (Southern Italian)
Cabernet Franc (French or Long Island)
Sangiovese (Tuscany; Italian)
There is nothing better than a gorgeous bottle of Brunello di Montalcino. After years of trying others, I still can't find anything that warms the cockles of my heart like this one!
I am partial to the
Montefalco Sagrantino of Perugia
Brunello di Montalcino
Sangiovese vino is superb as well :)
Malbec from Argentina is divine
I also like La crema Chardonnay from Cali.

I drink a lot :)
