Just started creating The Green Wine Guide. Anyone interested eco-friendly sustainable wines should have a look. The website/blog is still in it's infancy but have plans for it to grow into a resource on green wines around the world.

The Nova Scotia Winter Icewine Festival is being held from February 12 - 22, 2009.

DesBarres Manor Inn, Nova Scotia's 2008 Cuisine of the Year, is hosting a Winter + Wine Dinner & Getaway on February 21, 2009 with a five course tasting menu inspired by Nova Scotia icewine and paired with Nova Scotia wines.

If anyone is in France or plans to travel to France, try to time your visit around one of Salon des Vins of the French Independent Vintners Association. A football field of independent vintners from all over France pouring generous tastings of wines from 5 Euros to 100 Euros. And, the entrance is only around 6 Euros/day or if you know a vintner, it's free. When you need a break from the wine, take in the oyster bars and foie gras sandwich stands surrounding the stands. How often do you get to talk with multiple generations of a family vineyard?

We went twice to the Salon in Strasbourg (February) and drove back to Prague (where we were living) with a trunk full of reasonably priced - but delicious - French wines. I wish we were back in Europe to go this time! Much better than the Tajik and Chinese wines we tried last year...

@ The Trip Chicks I've had a few Swiss wines. They certainly aren't in the forefront of anyone's mind when they are standing in the shop though.

Check out the Dirty South Wine blog. He's based in Atlanta and is mighty helpful.

Any one sampled Swiss? Next to impossible to find in Atlanta (I don't think the Swiss much export their wines much anyway). Am a fan of the "dry" varieties.

Good to be here. If any member of this group wants to subscribe to the travel guides to wine regions on my website, I'd be happy to give you a discount offer (worth 20% off the Gold subscription price). Also if you are writing about it on your blog, then I can also offer your readers a discount offer - just send me a message through here or through twitter or via my website and I will give you the relevant code/details.

That's a good dilemma to have, Craig! Being from down under, you might prefer the Krug 1990 as it has eucalyptus on the nose.

Dom Perignon over Krug? Hmm. Not sure on that count :)
