Ominous red ink
One day after class, one student asked me if I would refrain from using red marker on the board. He said it was a bad omen. Have any of you heard of something like this, or was he just being superstitious on his own?

I've no idea, though the student side of me shies away from red ink anyway- reminds me of failure, haha.

Never heard about it on the board, but I know in China you shouldn't write in red (except for corrections on student work). I forget the reasoning, but I know it's really bad to write someone's name in red. I had a difficult time avoiding it because I'm an editor and a red pen is usually the nearest color.
