Are there any other traveling couples out there? Can you comment on the ups and downs, tips etc? My partner and I spend a tremendous amount of time together - I wonder how the 24/7 nature of long term travel will be when we leave on our RTW in June.

My husband and I spent several days in Madrid in mid-May. Our focus was on budget activities.

My hubby and I travel together - our last trip was to Spain for about a month. I think that the 24/7 issue really depends on your personalities. If you're not used to spending that much time together, perhaps you could discuss what each of you hopes to visit & accomplish during your upcoming trip. Also, how do you feel about spending part of a day apart from the other? Sometimes one of you might feel like checking out the shops and the other feels more like taking it easy in your room/apartment. We're used to spending a lot of time together, so it works out quite well.

Not knowing the language should never be a barrier for anyone to visit a place. We visited Leh, not knowing a word of Ladakhi but learnt from the locals that all we needed to know was the word "Juleh" (pronounced joo-lay). With one word, we were able to communicate and connect with the people of Leh.
