It seems there are more widgets and gadgets and themes out there for WP, but I am really glad I chose TypePad. It seems like the classier way to go!!! I really appreciate the support they give me even when the problem is ME! I will be with TypePad for a long long time!!!

I've been using TypePad for five years and find it generally easy enough to use (altho' I could do with some help in customising my blog - suggestions welcome).
It's reassuring to hear from Anna & Dominique that you're not too taken with WP (I've seen it hyped so much that I was beginning to wonder if I'd made the right decision in sticking with what I know!)
I'm sticking with TypePad for my own blog.
Like Anna, I've also been blogging on WP (in my case, for a gig as a staff blogger on another site) and find that I don't really care for the WP interface.
I'm also on Typepad. Soon I'll have to renew my subscription and I've decided to stick with them for another year. I am blogging on WP as well (for work) and frankly, I'm not so happy with that interface.

The one local blogger I know uses TypePad, and she was nice enough to show me the interface and how things worked with her control panel when I was asking questions about starting a blog.
The primary things I looked at: the interface looked similar to some message boards I've been on for several years (mitigating the fear factor a bit!); I wanted more control over ads appearing on the site when I got to the point of monetizing; I wanted the option of choosing my own domain name and masking the blog URL so readers would simply have to remember www.midwestguest.com, and my friend was really high on TypePad.
Everybody seems to be going for WP these days. The reason why I chose Typepad originally is that both Seth Godin and Guy Kawasaki use it. They should have a clue ...
