Has anyone else come across these? I think I shall invest in the TZ7 (it has a different name in the states). It's a very impressive still camera with a wide angle lens and 12x optical zoom, but it fits in your pocket! No attachments needed, and best of all, since the TZ5 series it takes HD video!! The latest one has more features and stereo sound. You can have a stock of SD cards, or a large capacity one to record as much as you like and it's very efficient with battery power. I currently have the TZ3 and used it's video mode (non-HD) to record my entire hike up mount Teide and Burning Manvideos on it. Since it's got a wide angle lens, you can hold the camera out with an out-stretched arm and it actually does NOT look like you are holding it!
Any thoughts? This suits me much better than a bulky video camera; it's the future!
If you want to step it up a level you might like the Canon EOS 5D Mark II http://bit.ly/yBOU , which offers some incredible footage. Here's just one of many examples of the quality http://vimeo.com/4256849 - Yes this will change traveling video podcasts - pretty cool eh?
Well, SLR cameras are not quite what I was talking about. It's true that the quality is amazing etc., but the Lumix TZ series can literally fit into your pocket, has the wide lens and 12x zoom and has NO lens attachments. SLR cameras are too conspicuous and bulky for me. I don't need bags or anything; I always have my camera in my pocket and can make an HD video without people seeing really noticing.
