What video-editing software are you using?

Just checking. I'm teased for still being on PC, but Adobe Premier and Ulead have done me well. Anyone else, or are you Mac users?

I'm strictly a Mac guy. My editing started off using iMovie, to Final Cut Express, and now married to entire Final Cut Pro (FCP) Suite. More in depth, I honestly spent very little time in Final Cut Express because moving from iMovie HD [6] to Final Cut Express was too much of the same and quickly wanted more. Final Cut Pro is a great package to grow into if you're looking to move from iMovie.

Always wanted to try Adobe Premier, but probably won't go there unless I end up with a free copy.

In all honesty if someone is selling a legal second-hand copy of Final Cut Pro -- the older version that runs nicely on a Powerbook G4 -- then let me know by direct message.

I'm on a Mac using iMovie '09. It gets the job done for what I need.

Craig, I can understand why you're sticking with the old iMovie HD version...I miss the timeline in the newer versions. That said, there are some great features in '09...like uploading directly to YouTube (except you can't upload HD movies yet).

I'm using Final Cut Express and loving it. It's only 200 bucks instead of the 1200 for full Final Cut Studio, but honestly for my purposes I don't really need the crazy animation and graphics programs that come with studio. Being able to cut travel footage and put it together is all I really need.

I love Macs, and use them exclusively at work for our editing and all things creative. That said, I can't currently justify getting the Macbook Pro I want in addition to investing in a decent video camera and accessories. So I just ordered a PC. I ended up getting a great deal on a 14" powerhouse laptop with every type of connection imaginable. If a comparable Macbook even existed, which it doesn't, it would be well over $2000. I ended up with this one from ASUS which I'm hoping will be great (haven't received it yet). I'm going to upgrade it to Windows 7 which is getting more Mac like anyway. I'll then take the money I saved and put it toward gear or software. With a little luck I'm hoping to score editing software from AVID through a contact there. If not I'll probably use Adobe products. I'll let you know how the combination works out!

My husband and I use Final Cut Pro. We started out on iMovie but Final Cut gives you so much more flexibility.

I have just started trying to get into video, as I am a graphic designer I have adobe and I happened to be able to get Premiere thrown in so now I need to figure out how to use it better. I think the most critical is the quality of the raw film though, as I could edit till the sun comes up but it still won't be any good without a some decent footage! Also I need to try and think ahead of time, maybe create a rough storyline to follow so that I know what footage I will need. Right now I'm trying to create some things from a past trip and I find my self frustratingly muttering to myself "why didn't I get a shot of..!)!(@(!!"

I've used everything from Window Movie Maker, ULead Video Studio, Premiere Elements and Sony Vegas, but I ultimately settled on Cyberlink PowerDirector. It seems to have the best combination of features and speed (tuned to i7 processors). Can output directly to mobile device, disc, Youtube and/or Facebook.

I'm a mac guy. I started with iMovie HD and, with my new computer, moved up to iMovie '09. I've had alot of problems as I make more complex vids in iMovie 09 and finally Apple admitted that it's at best a post-sumer product. I'm about to make the move to FinalCut, but will probably stay with Final Cut express (cost).
I have spent time tinkering with iMovie and it can actually get pretty complex. I will keep it as my on-the-go editing software only because it is so simple to use.

As for a tripod, I have one of those Gorilla Tripods, but what I hear is really great is the uni-leg tripods. Has anyone tried one of those?
