The Destination(s) You Blog About and/or Areas of Interest
I am based in Chicago, so when I am not traveling, I tend to talk about everything in and around the Windy City. However, I've traveled to a lot of places (mostly solo) since the age of 15, so I have tons to talk about. I blog about past trips, current vactions and future getaways to nearby cities, far away states and other destinations all over the world. Gettin' Carried Away is mostly about my travels in the U.S. and Europe. I'm hoping to add Asia and Australia within the next year or so.

As the Community Manager for TBEX, I'm here to help you with anything you like! Rants, raves, questions, comments, etc... feel free!

Excited to be back!

First, I just want to thank everyone for the nice messages you have sent via TBEX, Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. I'm doing a lot better these days, and I even made it to my planned NYC trip. I may have been a little sluggish, and I was in bed by 11 p.m. each night, but I am so happy I didn't have to cancel.

When I returned from the trip, before I went back to the doctor, I saw the news about TBEX 2010! SO EXCITING! I can't wait to meet even more of you fellow bloggers and be able to chat a litt… Continue

TBEXers! Want to come back to Chicago?

Can you believe it's already August?

My travel blog is celebrating its 1st Birthday this month! To celebrate, I'm giving away a FREE weekend (two weekend nights) stay at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. You have until June 30, 2010 to use it, so you don't have to come back right away. Check out the deets on my blog.

Happy travels, TBEXers!

Carrie

Thanks to Kim, Debbie, Maren and crew for TBEX '09!

I can't even begin to describe how refreshing it was to actually be in the presence of so many intelligent, talented, savvy travelers. And while I know we're all competing for readership, it's nice to know that everyone is so friendly and willing to share the ups and downs of creating/maintaining a successful travel blog.

So - thanks to Kim, Debbie, Maren, the Chicago Cultural Center, all the sponsors and especially to all the TBEX attendees! It's nice (as a travel blogger) to have a voi… Continue

Headshots at TBEX '09!

Hello, fellow travel bloggers!

As Kim mentioned, Peter Carey has so graciously offered his Hidden Creek Photography services to all of us TBEXers attending the conference in Chicago next week. I will be working alongside Peter to keep things going and to make sure that the right photographs are sent to the right people when all is said and done.

I'll have a numbered sign-up sheet for you to fill out (name, e-mail, blog URL and phon… Continue

Helpful info for the somewhat-tech savvy

I admit that I don't know too much about building a website. I know basic HTML. This is why I love using Wordpress, because the templates are pre-made. I've messed around with several of them before chooising my current theme and customizing it.

Anyway, I found this very cool site that grades YOUR website! It's really interesting. It tells you what's working and what's not so good about it. It even offers a bit of advice to help make it better.… Continue
