If anyone is reading this that has a travel blog with a predominantly UK audience I can probably help you out with a guide book giveaway - including postage. Let me know at robbarham @ gmail.com
The traffic question is a sticky one. You can advertise a giveaway on sites that advertising internet contests, but then you get a bunch of junk comments--people who aren't interested in your blog and don't stick around. I'm not sure that is worth t…
I read an article (sorry I don't have the reference) that said Google was dropping the whole page rank thing. They explain in their pages for web admins that page rank is not a good measure of how your site is doing. Instead you should look at traff…

This morning we headed out to Pensacola Beach...well known for it's beautiful white sandy beaches. It was quite a "birdy" day as my son put it! Lots of seagulls out and about!
Hi Jen - It is good that you are posting on your blog at least 2-3 times a week which helps with page ranking. And love the header with the photos. Are you using the SEO All in One Plugin - it is available on the Wordpress site. Also, you might consider using Flickr to store your photos and have a Flickr Widget on your site or crate a new page titled "Photos". The recent post is a little hard to appreciate wonderful pictures lined up the way they are. Could you go into your image library and update the names the pictures that are in the actual post (not the header photos). The first one that is a fountain instead of it being: IMG_9052photowalk1 (Small) it should be saved as fountain_Seville_Square.jpg. I know it is a pain right now. But it you start now naming your photos, it will help you as your page is optimized. Hope this helps a little. You will want to share links with others as well. It helps!
Jen, one thought, If you find that your page ranking drops to "0" after you migrated to a self-hosted WP site - make sure the robots are not set to "disallow" - you can check this by the following http://www.yoursitename.com/robots.txt, make sure the work robots is plural.
If you see:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
The "User-agent: *" means this section applies to all robots. The "Disallow: /" tells the robot that it should not visit any pages on the site.
I had the same situation where I migrated from blog spot to a self hosted WP - but my ranking dropped. Then I found out that the robots was set to Disallow. Google from spider-ing me. Hope this helps.
I think you need 25 fans before Facebook will give you your own personal URL from what I understand.
