I wanted to follow up with this conversation because Anil just posted a lot of good information about this topic on this recent post: http://travelblogadvice.com/monetizing/how-to-manage-and-make-more-money-from-text-link-ads-on-your-travel-blog/ I…

Good question, JoAnna. It is not a good idea to do no follow site-wide, as Google likes to see some outgoing links! If anyone is using SEO techniques, they will know when you have put the no follow tags in place. You could be selective and choose s…

Adding "No follow" means that those links won't be counted as backlinks, as well as not crawled. If you add it to exchanged links, you're denying those sites an important benefit, and they probably won't be happy about it. As for Googlebot leaving…

Anthony ~ It's happened to me too. I had to drop down to 3 posts in summary format, which I didn't like at all, but it was all that was working. I left it there for about two weeks, then went in and changed it back to 10 at full posts and it works f…

I've been working with a designer to enhance my travel blog, and he advised that I use the "no follow" code in external links so that Google bots don't wander off of my site. Does that mean I should be adding it to all the link exchanges I've made t…

To be a Vagabond - Words from a Master

In my preparation to hit the road as a Digital Vagabonding Roads Scholar, I've been reading "Vagabonding in the U.S.A." by Ed Buryn. Our world has changed a lot since Ed wrote the book several years ago, but the message is virtually the same: There is an innate human desire and urge to explore, journey and wander. When we try to confine that desire and define what vagabonding is, we quash the notion that we can leave our travels up to chance.

Read more about how Ed describes vagabonding and how… Continue

Rock Scrambling in Las Vegas?

Get beyond all that glitters with a hike in Ice Box Canyon, less than 30 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. This moderately challenging hike requires some tricky foot work and rock scrambling ... who knew Sin City could be so fun?

Read more about where to find this great hike and what to expect in my latest blog posting at Kaleidoscopic Wandering.

Hug the Earth - Visit a National Park

Take advantage of the National Park Service's free weekends at more than 100 parks around the United States this summer.

Most people are within a day trip of at least one National Park. Now is the time to pull out the hiking boots, pack a picnic lunch and explore our national treasures. Not sure where to start? Visit my latest blog posting for a sneak peek at four of my favorite and less-visited pa… Continue

Perhaps ypu can help. I am going to London and want to know if my US medical insurance is covered there, or do I need to purchase additional travel health insurance for my journey? On my last trip, I needed to purchase an ankle brace that was not covered. It wasn't a big deal, but I am accident prone and do not want to be unprotected if something bigger happens next time.

Hi, JoAnna!

Thanks for adding my blog to your blogroll. I'd love it if you could add a description for it indicating that it's a solo travel blog. I would hope people would figure that out from the name, but you never know. :-) I have added your blog to my site under the General Travel links, with a description for people to check out your Las Vegas pages. If you would rather be under the Las Vegas links in particular, or would rather have a different description, let me know, I can easily change it. I wasn't sure how much you plan to emphasize the Vegas section of your blog, but I certainly see a lot of potential for it. You're very lucky to be living in a popular tourist destination like Vegas--lots of material to blog about without leaving your home town!

Glad to help with WordPress. I'm by no means an expert, but happy to share what I've learned.

Best,
Gray

That'll do!

I've added you to my blogroll. Thanks!
