I am from Florida and taught in Lugansk, Ukraine in 2002. I enjoyed it there as administration and students were much more respectful than here. I am launching a show soon where low income families can win trips by writing to me where they would…

J, Know exactly what you mean. My Peru blog was panned by a friend: too many words, we want PHOTOS! So, I give 'em photos which is a big part of the reason I travel and the reason the blog isn't deadly dull. Hate blogs that are all words,…

Leif has written quite a bit on Killing Batteries, but he's not a dedicated Eastern Europe blogger. I really think there's a lot of space to grow there; few people are covering it in depth and/or well.

A British travel writer in Ukraine

Thumbnail
Hi! I'm a British expat in Ukraine - at the moment I'm working as a translator at a law firm, but I'd like to move on to something a bit more creative. I've spent three years abroad so far (I've been in Kyiv for just over two years, and I studied in Russia before that). Writing about my experiences in a journal (I won't spam here, there's a link on my profile) has helped me to appreciate the countries I have travelled to, and also to maintain the bond with my own language.J.See More

The plain, snowless clouds feel low enough to touch. People discard their colourful autumn clothes and clamber into black and dark grey coats. A cold wind blows stern looks onto our faces - autumn forgotten, the… Continue
