Spring in Xinjiang is...AWESOME

About Me

During the summer of 2006 my wife and I found ourselves in a small airport in Xinjiang, China holding all our belongings and not a clue as to what we were doing. We were coming to teach, we knew that much, but where the heck were we?

After years of traveling around Xinjiang I am now convinced it is one of the most underrated and beautiful parts of China that most people neglect to notice. It's also one of the most misunderstood. I decided to begin to write about the area in hopes that I could shed light on Xinjiang's people, places, and incredible culture.

You can find read my articles on the website, FarWestChina, or easily subscribe to it's RSS feed.
I'd also love to meet up with you on Twitter!

I currently reside in and blog about Xinjiang, a province in the far north western corner of China. It's a unique place that combines many different cultures, foods, and travel destinations which is unfortunately not very well know. It's not well know, but it's absolutely beautiful!

Josh, thanks for connecting! Going through your blog brought back great memories of Xinjiang, not just of the food but of the people and markets and also how it's changing so fast. When we crossed over from Kyrgyzstan, we weren't expecting to enjoy Xinjiang so much because we thought it would be similar to what we had seen already in Central Asia. Instead, Xinjiang became one of our favorite (if not the) places in China.

Wish I could go for some laghman right now (gush siz). There's nothing like watching those noodles get pulled right in front of you.

woo Xinjiang! I've heard so much about it, like the Muslim culture, and how it almost feels more like Kyrgyzstan than China.. would love to come some day. Will stay tuned to your blog.

Not as much as we'd like! Almost got a job teaching ESOL there awhile back. I'm hungry for that Uyghur bread!

It's called Uyghur bread and it's even more delicious than it looks. I wrote about it a bit if you want to take a look. Thanks for your comment!
