Unlike History Lessons from Vienna

The tourism board of Vienna (my hometown) came up with a funny social media campaign that brings historical figures from the very grave to a lively Facebook group.  With lots of Viennese charm, wit, and a good dose of imagination, empress Sisi chats with Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Freud and other famous celebraties. This all might sound weird at first, but it's lots of fun if you join the conversation (simply start commenting). And - even for locals - lot's to learn in terms of history.…See More

Top things not to miss on a brief stop-over in Venice

“Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go.” - Truman CapoteGetting off the train in “Venezia Santa Lucia“ station feels a bit like stepping into another world. Not quite as kitschy as a theme park, not quite as bright as a movie but unreal enough to make you stop for a minute to breath it all in. The grand channel “Canale Grande“ sits right in front of the train station, and that’s the spot where most visits to Venice start out. It’s a big dirty water canal on which…See More

tripwolf is looking for the best travel photo of 2010

The online travel guide tripwolf is looking for the best tripwolf travel photo of 2010. The photo should capture the "spirit of traveling," and can be anything from a caravan in the Sahara, exotic animals in the wildness or of you while exploring the deep unknown at any place in the world. The prize is a goodybag including eg a silk sleepingbag, a travel-slackline, … and: the picture will also be featured on the…See More

Faroe Islands Getaway – Why I want to win!

"Adventure your life," is what got me to sleep on top of an Austrian mountain at 2250m and -13 degree C. It also fueled me as I traveled through solo. This adventure-fueled travel bug also allowed me to live the traveler’s beach dream on a tiny island in Sulawesi. After finishing my studies and this extensive traveling, I'm now lucky to have a job that focuses on travel. Though I spend most of my time behind my laptop and not on the road (one thing…See More
