Nancy - Not sure what sort of trip you have in mind - we did a tour a few years ago that included both places and loved it. (I'm actually hoping to make a return trip to the Galapagos.) Some advice:

Take the tram to the top of the mountain in Quito.

See as many islands as you can in the Galapagos - each is surprisingly different with different wildlife.

Depending on the time of year, be prepared for cold water for snorkeling.

Quito is really high - you might want to spend a few days at a lower elevation (maybe in the cloud forest?) to acclimate a bit.

I have photos and some info from my trip on my blog at: http://thetravelgal.blogspot.com/2006/01/celebrating-holidays-in-south-america.html

Have a great trip!

Cindy
