Hi Noersal,
I think it's lack of geography lessons. In the U.S.,Geography is not a requirement in most schools. There is a lot of ignorance about countries outside of the U.S. as a result. Typical Americans also don't like to travel in places where they will be forced to try new food and cultures. I think it's slowly changing though. There's a lot more interest in the global community. I would love to visit Indonesia. Last month, I won some Indonesian sarongs and pillow covers in a travel blog raffle. They are beautiful, as is much of the Indonesian culture that I know about. What do you think is most significant about Indonesian culture?

Hi Noersal,
I think more people know Bali than Indonesia because Bali crafts and culture is famous and it draws a lot of people. People don't know the country of Indonesia or associate it with Bali because geography outside the West is often shaky!

Shanna, I think you'll find the networking -- meeting other bloggers -- is pretty cool. And some of the seminars and info, too. I think if you go with limited expectations, you won't be disappointed.
