Scott's First Post

I write the Rolling Rains blog.

I'll be traveling through South Africa on my first visit January 23 through February 24. I was invited through the work of a specialist inbound travel agent at Access2Africa to be the first journalist with a disability to be hosted by the Tourism Ministry of Kwazulu-Natal Province. Wow, congratulations on the Mobility Magazine award, very cool. Hope your Mozambique trip is successful, too.

Sounds like some great stuff happening in your world. There is a lot of education do to in the industry. I know, when I was a small resort owner, it wasn't until we met that the light really went on for me regarding information about accessibility. Between negotiating squabbles between staff, schmoozing with the guests, and making sure everything is ready for the next big group, thinking about accessibility information doesn't come up until someone puts the question in front of you. It's great that you are out there asking it.

Actually, I think it was the Adventures in Travel Expo in San Mateo a few years ago, now that you mention the bay area.

Hey Scott.

Did I meet you once at a Travel Trade show when John and I owned Rock Springs Guest Ranch? I swear I know the name and we talked about accessibility. (unless I'm losing it, which I do from time to time...)

Cheers!

Hi Scott, thanks for joining. I told Craig that my son uses a wheelchair for mobility, so I'm really excited about having some experts on travel issues with disabilities on TBEX!
