I think you can do a mix between the two. It's nice to read small and light highlight of the day or week article. Then when you have time, make the longer and more comprehensive ones.

I'm a daily poster myself. More than that is too much like twitter, and less than that doesn't get page views. If you want quality over quantity I think as long as you make a quality post weekly your readers will stick around.
