Mt. Balingkilat Blisters

It’s not everyday that you get to meet the sun god face to face. Surely, we get our good share of the sun in our daily waking lives, but to actually experience it in all its glory (more specifically, in all its scorching powers) is another story. One good place to set this rendezvous is in a mountain in Zambales on a good December day, without any hint of grey clouds or a touch of water falling from heaven. Mt. Balingkilat, or the “house of thunder” as the Aetas would translate it, stands…See More

Saud Beach, Ilocos Norte

Excerpt from "A Place Where The Sand Whispers" Pagudpud was our last destination, the place that we decided will culminate the 5-day Ilocos trip. Nothing behind it, really. I was just more keen on giving us a “Globe Trekker” ending, complete with whatever realizations while music cues in (I think I’ll be needing a camera man, next time).            I was told that Pagudpud nests some of the best beaches in thePhilippines, so we thought of giving this place a whole 24 hours to…See More

Since Florida Bus does not have Vigan routes, we alighted in Bantayan and rode a tricycle to get into the city. At 8 in the morning, my senses were already being shocked by local transport fares. “P20 each” was what the trike driver told us for the ride that took us less than 5 minutes and had we known how near Bantayan is going to Vigan, we could’ve walked instead and saved us 40 bucks. I thought instantly that with such price,…See More

Birthday Island 2011

Last January 16th, I gave myself the most beautiful gift for my 29th birthday. I wanted a to explore and island which will my "birthday island," a personal tradition I recently started to celebrate my last year in my 20s. This is the island that I chose: Cagbalete Island, Quezon Province in the Philippines. Just for the weekend, this island was all mine.

For the rest of the story, please visit…
