Venice Burning

Last week, in the throes of allergies, which I’m beginning to believe is the new medical term for “I don’t know,” I finally turned to trying out 24-hour Allegra.  While the medication worked quite well, the first couple of nights offered restless nights and strange dreams.

Situated somewhere in Giudecca, I stood on the wrap around balcony of my room, which typically offered a stunning view of Venice.  The time was sometime past midnight, the sky ink black.  There were…

Day 04: On to Sorrento

In this post, I continue my Viva Italia tour as we leave Rome and head south to Sorrento and the beautiful Amalfi Coast. Along the way, we get stuck at a truck stop, meet our third bus and driver, get car sickness, eat a meter of pizza and enjoy sex by the pool.

Guided bus tours are filled with those pleasant surprises and nasty realities. I still remember the first tour I took, standing in the Parc du Champs de Mars, staring up at the Eiffel Tower, my heart beating out La… Continue

Navigating Rome- Some Tips

I haven't traveled out of the country in about two months, which means I am getting itchy feet, and I am starting to pick up on talk of Rome like a radio picking up stray signals.

Luckily, I will be traveling tomorrow. However, I do not yet know when my next trip to Italia will be. In the meantime, I have amassed a couple different videos that I feel would be useful to potential travelers to Italy and to Rome in particular.

These videos go from very useful, to somewhat…

What’s on in Italy. A few November picks!

Whether you are planning a visit in Italy for business or for leisure, tracking events is a hard work. I thus picked some events which I found particularly interesting (a concept which will certainly be questioned by the ones having other interests, but that’s how it is).

Travel, learn and have fun: Photography courses in Italy

I love photography although I am an amateur taking the normal-as-usual pictures, and one of the things on my dream list is taking a class to understand and manage at least the basic techniques of this wonderful art. You might be also willing to improve your ability as a photographer, and Italy could be the right place to take a course and improve your skills while staying in wonderful locations.

Movies That Make You Want To Travel

I am a travel junkie.

Seriously, I am.

I probably look at travel news, stories, deals and journals more than anything else during my weekly activities. It is an addiction and something that I may need to eventually get help for (is there a Traveler’s Anonymous?). In any event, while my travel bug is still active, let me say that one of the things that makes me want to log onto Kayak or TravelZoo and book my next trip comes… Continue

Did you know this? Rome Trevi fountain

The origin of its name isn’t certain yet, although it is most likely that it comes from the Latin Trivium that suggests the confluence of three roads in the Piazzetta dei Crociferi, located next to the modern Trevi square.
I'd like to go there, Rome Trevi fountain
