If you haven't RSVPed yes for TBEX '09 yet, be sure and do it soon since the meeting space will be at capacity before long! Also, only those who have RSVPed yes will receive the nitty gritty details (like mini-meetups, special offers from the tourism board, free photo shoots, ya know, awesome stuff like that).

I've been getting a lot of requests for hotel recommendations, so below a list of places I've either stayed (and liked) or that have come highly recommended. They're also all close to the Chicago Cultural Center where TBEX '09 will be held.

If you're going to BlogHer '09, you're may have already booked a room at the Sheraton. But since the Windy City is such a unique place with so much to offer, I thought I'd recommend some hotels in the downtown loop area that are a bit more "Chicago flavored".

Everyone seems to be looking for budget-friendly accommodations (of course), so many of the recommendations are in a lower price range (for downtown Chicago!), but are still very nice places to stay:

  • Silversmith Hotel - $120-245/nt - Nice clean boutique hotel, 2 blocks from the TBEX '09 venue.
  • Allerton Hotel - $128-182/nt - Newly renovated, on the Magnificent Mile, smallish rooms.
  • The James Hotel - $189-229/nt - Modern and nice, great location just off the Magnificent Mile.
  • Hotel Blake - $115-240/nt - I've stayed there and like a lot. It's on Printer's Row, is nice and clean with a great restaurant too.

If you're a Chicagoan attending, or if you know of other great spots (including hostels), be sure to leave your recommendations in comments too!

It's been a couple of weeks, but I know of two bloggers who were both successful in bidding on Priceline in the $65-$80 range and ended up at the Hyatt Regency, just two blocks from the Cultural Center and three blocks from the Sheraton. Of course, you're not guaranteed that site, but if you want to take a chance...
