How to Find the Cheapest International Airfare - Tips

Here’s some tips on how you can find the cheapest international airfare when traveling.

Our goal when traveling is to keep our airfare as inexpensive as possible without sacrificing safety, comfort and time.

• PLAN AHEAD

• The sooner you’re able to purchase your tickets, the better.

• Aim for at least 6 weeks prior to your departure.

• Sometimes you will find last minute deals, but those types of deals are usually best left for the last minute vacations.
  Don’t spend months planning out an incredible trip and think that your
  going to find a last minute deal airline ticket.

You’re likely going to be paying out the whazoo for those tickets in the end.

Don’t Fly on Peak Days!

• If at all possible, try to avoid flying on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which are peak fly days, which means the price also “soars,” Get it? Soars….. oh, well.
• If one of our tours starts on a Saturday, try to depart on a Thursday or earlier.
• That will not only keep your airline ticket price down, but this will also give your body time to recover from any type of jet-lag.

Shop Around

You have probably used or at least heard of some of the very popular travel search engines tools out there such as Travel Zoo and Kayak.

And I know, they’re awesome! I’m always looking forward to reading Travel Zoo’s top 20 every week.

Although they are really good at finding domestic flights for here in the U.S., and they do at times post really good deals for international
flights, they’re not always that great for finding the international
flights you may need.
This isn’t their fault. It’s just that not all foreign airlines make
their fares available to search engines so websites like Travel Zoo and
Kayak just don’t pick them up.

For international travel there are a few other search engines designed specific for international travel.

• Momondo
• Mobissimo
• Skyscanner
• Do Hop
• Vayama

Talk to A Travel Agent

And to top off your search, you can always go talk to your local travel agent.

Travel agents will sometimes have access to special discounts not available online and they’re also really good at finding flights for
those tricky to reach destinations.

On all of those sites listed above, see if your able to find a flight itinerary that will get you from your nearest airport to Paro
International Airport in Bhutan. At the time of this post, it isn’t
possible.

That’s where a travel agent can step in, all super hero like, and save the day.

Those are just a few resources that we use and that you would definitely want to check out.

One last thing to keep in mind. PARKING!!

Don’t forget parking fees! The fees can really add up over a number of days.

Do yourself a favor and look for satellite parking when available. It tends to be quite a bit cheaper and it’s still safe.
