If any of you follow my tweets (@cajun_mama) you probably got sick and tired of all the pics and comments I made about my FREAKING AWESOME time at Quebec’s Winter Carnival. In fact, I was having so much fun, I didn’t even have time to write a decent blog post for
TravelingMamas.com, I just put together a quick video.
There are some deleted and/or missing scenes. It seems a higher power knew what was about to occur before I took a certain zip line ride over the Carnival. I was at the top of the tower hooked up and ready to go, all with Flip Ultra in hand and recording. It was so cold; the battery froze, just as I slid down the line.
“Ah, hell” I exclaimed to myself. So much for getting that on camera.
I enjoy zip lines and this one was no different…..Until I began to turn backwards with no way to get back around. I knew the end of the ride was near and just didn’t want to surprise myself as I hit the very well padded wall.
Funny thing, that wall.
I bounced off of it and the guy working at the other end had no idea what to do (apparently I was his first rider). He didn’t catch me or anything and my legs were far too short to catch on anything.
So there I go again, headed back down the zip line, only to stop halfway, with my very plump behind hanging above the crowd of families who could only laugh as I waved from high above. I hope the image of my behind accentuated by the very tight harness did not scar too many young minds who were a witness to the event.
I hung around the Carnival for a while, until it took a woman to take hold of the situation by throwing me a rope so I could be pulled back to the end. The crowd cheered and I went in search of the bar for a Caribou.
Joyeaux Carnivale!
