It is said that on Saint Patrick’s Day, everybody’s Irish! Falling on March 17th, Ireland’s most famous holiday is celebrated in much of the Western World. Tradition calls for wearing green, parading in the streets, and often drinking heavily. The humble Saint Patrick never knew his legacy would spread so far and be celebrated so merrily.
Many cities hold Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations, the most important event being a parade. Some of the largest are held in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco and of course, Dublin, Ireland. Dublin’s parade is part of a five day music and arts festival which runs from March 12-17th. Some of the best places in Dublin to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day are the pubs, but be sure to get out into the streets for traditional music, culture and craic – the Irish word for fun.
