As an aficionado of both travel and fashion, it is no wonder I fell in love with Sundance Channel’s new show Man Shops Globe. Keith Johnson a merchandising buyer for some of my favorite stores such as Anthropologie has one of the best jobs in the world. Keith gets to rummage through the world’s earthly treasures, traveling to unique destinations to find that one-of-kind piece of furniture to a new fresh textile print to bring back to us in the states.

Man Shops Globe follows Keith as he travels to some of our favorite cities, but also to places we’ve never thought of visiting. He introduces you to artists and crafters who may as well be designers. Their stalls or small studios host antique furnishings and accessories, which eventually make its way to our homes and closets.

Keith does a fantastic job of highlighting different cultures, which enables us to appreciate where these true creative trends originate. The show also teaches you to respect vendors and stores when you travel, as you hear their stories.

Among my travels I have been able to bring home some fun and unique items. Whether, they be a simple scarf to a straw bag, it’s always fun to own something that comes with a story other than “I got this at the mall.”

collection of charms. I love to look into jewelry stores around the world. Being the granddaughter of a jeweler, my admiration for things shiny, but not always new, started very young. So when I travel to a new city I like to visit jewelry stores to see what they have. I really love antique estate jewelry, as the craftsmanship back then is rare to find these days. There is something to be said about an old watch or vintage charm and the story they have to tell. I wished I had been able to buy a charm from each city, maybe a gondola for Venice, a cross for Rome, a sun for Capri, little things to remind me of my great adventures.

So if you’re like me and love fashion and travel, tune into the Sundance Channel on Wednesdays, at 10pm to envy the man with the best job in the world. You can also find some of his great discoveries at Anthropologie. If you’re in New York, visit the Rockefeller flagship location, where he is the creative director for the stores look.
