Tailgate party at the Opera

I know what I will be doing this summer...thanks to Megan for the post!

"...what if I told you you could go to a pre-opera tailgate party in formalwear with wine and cheese? Okay, for people that are actually into tailgating at actual football games, that probably sounds like the third circle of hell. But for culture vultures like me, normal tailgate parties are already the third circle of hell, so the idea of getting gussied up for an opera, drinking some Malbec and taste-testing Raclette from the back end of my car sounds, well, better than the third circle of hell.

At Santa Fe Opera (SFO) in New Mexico, pre-opera tailgating is totally in vogue, and these folks have it down to an art. "
