There will be quite a lot going on the weekend of TBEX '10 beyond the event itself, and I'm pretty excited about that. We're still working out the details of the event schedule, and will soon announce the list of fabulous speakers. But in the meantime, I'm posting some answers to many of your burning TBEX '10 questions...
Well, here's a little video preview of some of the fun to be had in the evenings after TBEX '10. During a recent visit to New York to check out the event venue and to speak at the NY Social Media Roundtable, I had the pleasure of hanging out with several folks who will be at TBEX '10.
Watch this space. About a month before the event we'll be posting information about the fun after parties and events being planned by travel PR companies, online publishers, and tour operators. There will be plenty of drinks to go around, tons of time to hang out, and maybe even a mechanical bull. I've seen lots of you chatting on Twitter about meeting up for drinks ... and I'd recommend doing it on their dime, it's a win for all :).
MEETING VENUE This year's event
will be held at the Cantor Film Center in Greenwich Village. The main theater upstairs will be our home on Saturday and Sunday (and everything is wheelchair accessible). Address: 36 East 8th Street New York, NY 10003
WHAT'S NEARBY I've created a Google Map which marks the TBEX '10 venue and some recommended hotels nearby. Click to view TBEX '10 Venue & Nearby Stuff in the larger interactive map (and add your own must-sees!).
RECOMMENDED HOTELS, HOSTELS & APARTMENTS
HomeAway (TBEX '10 sponsor) - A selection of great privately-owned vacation rental apartments throughout the city. I've just booked one for the week leading up to TBEX '10 and will move over to a hotel close to the venue for the event weekend. (And the week-long rental is roughly the same cost as three nights in the hotel.) Keep in mind some of the apartments have a minimum stay, but they are clearly-marked. Rates vary based on number of bedrooms & location. Website | Twitter
Jazz Hostels (TBEX '10 sponsor) - For all you hosteling enthusiasts and those on a budget, look no further that Jazz On The Town, a hostel several blocks away from the meeting venue. Dorm rates start at $35 / night. Website | 212.228.2780 | Twitter
Hotel Indigo Chelsea (offering TBEX '10 discount) - Hotel
Indigo Chelsea has extended a limited time rate for TBEX10 attendees. I stayed there during my recent trip to NYC and it was a very comfortable visit. The staff was friendly and helped me navigate the subway route to the TBEX '10 venue, which was a straight shot for only about four stops, after a short walk to the closest station. Address: 127 West 28th Street, New York, NY 10001 Discount rate for attendees: $199/night from June 24-27, 2010. Must be booked by March 31st. Website | tel: 212.973.9000 | Twitter Booking code TBG Roger Smith Hotel (offering TBEX '10 discount) - Known as the 'social media hotel', Roger Smith comes highly recommended by many of my colleagues and friends. Artsy and unique, they say. It's a bit further from the venue, but they're offering a great discount. Address: 501 Lexington Avenue, New York, New York 10017 Discount rate for attendees: 15% off the best available rate if booked before April 15th; 10% off thereafter. Website | tel: 212.755.1400 | Twitter Booking code TBEX
Washington Square Hotel - Definitely the closest hotel to the venue, Washington Square Hotel has attractive prices and has received an average of 4 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor. Rates beginning from $239 / night. Website | tel: 212.777.9515 | Twitter

I love the bathrooms in the Donovan House in DC. Not palatial, but these crazy spiral showers that form an interior wall of the bed area. It's like being inside the giant snail in Dr. Doolittle. Sort of.Niagara Falls Canada
If you're still looking for moderately priced accommodations, Hotel Eventi, a just-opened Kimpton property in Chelsea, is offering a $199 rate for Thurs-Sun stays. Must book by May 31. If available, you can upgrade to a 1BR suite for $50 more. Promotion code is LIVE.
Another deal is available at the GEM Hotel Soho: "GEM and the City" promo is $179 per night for the weekend of 25-28 June. Package includes mix your own cocktails and take-home cupcake mix.
We're staying for a week after the event in an apt shared with friends from Home Away but for TBEX we will be staying at the Jazz Hostel. We're @hopandjaunt and would love to get connected with more people heading that way!!
I have a reservation for a double at Washington Square for Thurs -Mon. Would like to find a room mate for all or part of the time!

Nancy! The Jane looks cool, I think I might book there.
Excited for TBEX '10.
FYI, Trisha Miller and I are staying at the Washington Square Hotel. They are one of the last family-owned hotels in New York, if not THE last family owned hotel. (I'll find out.) I'm also staying at the Larchmont Hotel one night. The Bowery Hotel is also close by. Finally, The Jane is an inexpensive option.
I'm @Nancydbrown on Twitter. Keep me posted on the parties!!!
