To All TBEX members,
Let me introduce myself and my blog, otherguysdime.wordpress.com. My wife and I have lived and worked overseas fifteen times–Australia to Zimbabwe, Mauritius to Mongolia, Turkey to Tibet–without ever once reaching into my wallet and without ever giving up my day job. There are a lot of people who quit work, sell the house, kiss friends and family good-bye and head out to see the world for years at a time. While loads of fun and a great adventure, this is an unrealistic goal for many people with family and work commitments. However, just because you can't leave for years at a time, you may be able to travel for months and have the same cultural experiences and rewards as those who go for far longer. And, best of all, you will come back to your home, job, and regular paycheck.
If you are a professional with a useful skill–e.g., doctor, teacher, lawyer, business person, artist, engineer, scientist, psychologist, pharmacist, etc.–my blog is intended to show you how to locate and plan working vacations–short-term overseas positions lasting from 1 to 6 months. These trips are a wonderful way to learn about another culture, live in an exotic overseas locale, and spice up a life that may have started to become too regular, too predictable.
I would like to welcome all of you to check it out.
Michael Schneider
