For years, I’ve always had an interest in preserving my travel memories. Traveled in college, after college, got married, traveled some more, had a child and traveling even more and more always hoping some day that we will live abroad, maintaining simpler lives, allowing us to see more of the world. In fact, after our 3 month trip this past summer, we have decided to relocate to Thailand in 2010. My dream is coming true. I have so many blog topics and ideas. I feel like my head is about to explode.
Before we ventured out on our 2009 summer vacation, we started a twitter account under the name of @GotPassport. It was a way to connect with other people, get info, tips, and guidance about destinations. What started as a fun thing to do has turned into having over 700 followers (after deleting all the spammers and porn stars) on Twitter now, and we are still in shock by this. We have found and met, on-line that is, so many wonderful travel tweeps during this time. Along the way we met other travelers and began to explore their blogs. With a few tweeps encouraging us along, we decided it was time to tell our story.
About 5 months ago, I created an account with Matador Travel, but didn’t really blog there as much as I thought I might or could during the time we were gone. While in Thailand, my husband went ahead and started a blog with WordPress and he started blogging. I guess I was too busy traveling and enjoying. Now that we are back home and I have so much time on my hands that is all I can think about doing. So here we are, telling, telling, sharing and hoping we’ll never run out of stories to tell. At this rate, I don’t believe we will as I have so much catching up to do. Just check out the list we created in our other post for starters.
I have had a private blog in the past to preserve memories for my daughter. I am NO professional writer by any stretch of the imagination, although I like to think I have a big imagination and a lot of creativity. Writing, in many ways, has helped me pour my heart out. Another reason I started my other private blog was because I was frustrated, drowning in my own emotions, NOT being able to return to Burma to aide with the Cyclone Nargis victims and survivors. That was in May of 2008. My hope with my private blog and this blog is that one day, my daughter will appreciate and understand the reasons and the why’s as to how we guide her to become a responsible, kind, compassionate and humble human being.
In my 42 years of life, I think I’ve learned a thing or two about myself and life in general. One thing I know for sure is that when I am doing something I’m passionate about I tend to do it well. I love to travel and explore: that is my passion.
So, please, stay tuned for many more personal stories, travel or otherwise, as we have so many to share. While I have your attention, I want to thank each of you for reading this post, our other posts and many more posts lurking inside my tiny brain waiting to be written. I hope you will come back to this site often and check up on what we’re up to next. I’m humbled by the idea of having an audience. When I am writing about our TRAVELS, I feel a sense of joy and pride in preserving the memories of something I so adore– for our family– for my Emma.
