Why winter in Tokyo?
You know the winter weather often comes as a bit of a surprise to visitors to Tokyo if they haven't planned ahead. Everyone hears about how hot and humid it gets in summer but what's it like in winter?

Well today is December 4 and I know we're not in the middle of winter just yet - the coldest weather comes in January and February, but we are getting some pretty chilly days.
Maybe the biggest surprise for a first time visitor is how dry winter in Tokyo is - unless it's raining of course! Lol.
Seriously though, more often than not the skies are pretty clear with blue sky, sunshine, and clear views the majority of the time. The biggest tip I have for winter is to bring some good body moisturizer with you as it really is a very dry atmosphere during this season. When I forget to do my daily routine I end up with alligator skin!
The other big tip for winter is to take advantage of the fabulous views you can get of Mount Fuji! If you're in Tokyo get up early and get up high somewhere. Don't forget your camera!
Oh... and don't forget some warm clothes. It can get down to 0 or slightly below in the coldest months and snow has been known to fall - although not often. For more info on what to expect check my
